Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at a 2:00 PM Service at La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Linda Valerie Annala, 59, who passed away peacefully on July 25, 2007 at Southwest Medical Center in Lafayette.Interment will be in St. Theresa Cemetery in Duson. Reverend John Luvas will conduct the funeral services.Survivors include her cousin, Barbara Cortina and her husband, Ruben and their children, Elise Cortina and Laura Cortina. She was preceded in death by her parents, Veikko W. Annala and Helen Cook.A native of New York, New York and a resident of Duson, Linda Annala received her B.A. from Gallaudet University and her Master's Degree in Deaf Education from Western Maryland College.  During her career she was an inspiring teacher, counselor, author and presenter.  She was a member of various organizations serving the deaf and deaf-blind.  Linda was the founder and first president of Louisiana Acadian Deaf-Blind Citizens (LADBC), which was established in 1980.  Her tireless commitment to serving the deaf-blind community will be greatly missed.Pallbearers will be Bruce Dunn, Yenter Ty, AJ Wilson, Floyd Perrodin, Clint Picard and Troy Broussard.Honorary Pallbearer will be James LaLande.The family requests that visitation be observed on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until time of services at Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
